Welcome to the Neighborhood, Friesenburgers

Friesenburgers Tacoma signWelcome indeed. It's always great to see quality business and eats come to the Dome District and Friesenburgers is a promising addition. After hearing they were finally open earlier this week some co-workers and I decided to try 'em out.

Inside the place is simple and clean with only a little clutter near the soda fountain and condiments. They don't have their price board hanging yet so I'm sure there are some little touches soon to come. Menus were up at the counter and include choices for breakfast and the expected lunch and dinner fare. Burgers start at just over $4 on up for their hearty choices. I'm happy to see them offer a buffalo burger, cold sandwiches, grilled and (get this) deep fried hot dogs.

I went for the namesake burger the Friesenburger. It's a little more spendy at $7 but I got that with a soda and large, golden and crispy fries for just under $10. The kitchen got my order out in 10 minutes or so and everyone's order came out correct. The Friesenburger itself is a worthy adversary (for my cardiovascular system) with a half pound of meat from two patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon and a fried egg. All the smells from the kitchen made me hungry while we waited and the taste didn't disappoint. The bun had a little trouble holding everything but that would be my only beef. My burger seemed to be cooked well and hit the spot. Surprisingly I wasn't too full either since the portion of fries wasn't huge nor were they too greasy which made me happy.

Anyway, definitely worth a try. Six of us from our office all seemed satisfied and I counted 15 folks in there but the time we left.
