Photos ~ Minor damage to Marcato after car accident

As Exit133 reported, a car hit the Marcato condos this afternoon. I stopped by a minute ago and the Tacoma Ave. is wide open and the car that hit the building has been removed. I talked to a resident who said she was in the building when the elderly gentleman slammed into the southwest corner of the building coming from the south. She said the entire place shook and swayed and she actually though it was a bomb. She and a couple others told me the man driving appeared to be OK and was talking but may have had minor injuries.

Damage to the building isn't significant with a chunk of brick facade fallen off as well as a glass door broken. Some railing and other cement work will need to be cleaned up as well. Bets are that where Tacoma Ave. narrows just outside the building they'll soon be putting up some decorative barriers and hopefully a reflector or two to make sure folks know the roads going down to a single lane.
