Needle Ice Grows In Our Garden

At least when it's cold. I saw (and stepped on) the phenomenon known as needle ice today as we were doing some outdoor Christmas light planning. After I heard some crunching underfoot I looked closer and saw the beautiful growths sticking from the ground and curling every which way. Have a look in the photos below and keep your eyes out next time the air is cold and the ground is relatively warm.
