Photos ~ Showcase Tacoma opening night

After work yesterday we stayed downtown to attend a schmooz-fest opening reception for Showcase Tacoma. Under a tent in Pacific Plaza city and business leaders gathered to celebrate this first annual event. Still not being much of a know "figure" here in town I actually knew a few people. Got to chat with Erik, Morgan (of the Streetcar group), and one of my first freelance web client Arash who doesn't even live down here but who's girlfriend does. I also got to briefly chat with Cliff Colon who I really stink at keeping in touch with since college. His group The Player's Club filled the plaza with some pretty tight funk/soul to the delight of everybody at the beer garden at the top of Pacific Plaza's steps. Heck, I even met a local Tacoma blog reader who was dutifully volunteering at the event. Good to meet you Stacey!

The bulk of the weekend long even stats today and there will be more music in Pacific Plaza as well as art installations in chalk form on the pavement and hanging overhead. It's going to be a beautiful weekend so get out and enjoy!

(Also, you can still pick your favorite possible name for the current Pacific Plaza so vote here!)
