Photos ~ 2008 Showcase Tacoma

I stopped downtown Saturday morning on the ol' Vespa to get an early start at this year's Showcase Tacoma. The celebration was just getting underway as the city woke up. I joined a crew near Jefferson and 17th to help kick off the impromptu, come as you may chalk drawing area. I grabbed a tar blob on the otherwise smooth cement area and decided to make something of it. Plenty of folks then joined in along with chalk regular Elle. There was plenty of great art on display with work from the Fulcrum gallery in Tollefson and the SOTA student chalk art. Some great music and other action was also going on in the nooks behind UWT along the old railroad and Commerce street.

The rain came after I left but hope it didn't dampen everyone's spirit too much. Here are a few photos!
