Photos ~ Tacoma Ave. house slated for demolition

Since the buzz over another recent demolition I'm understandably a bit sensitive about this sort of thing currently. I found out today that not-so-well aged old house will soon meet with its demise. Thanks to a post on trusty old Exit133 I read about a place on Tacoma Ave. that's been a bit of a blight and even made Tacoma's Filty 15 list of places that don't conform to city codes. It's certainly not in any good shape and would take a near complete overhaul inside and out to make it shine again so, it seems, this place is beyond saving. Fair thee well, 612 Tacoma Ave., I hope you saw better days and will soon make room for something that will help your neighborhood shine (please, no more condos!).

As somewhat of an aside I've felt for the last couple years that I have a historic obligation to capture the city as it is today so that it can be looked back upon like I've done many times online in our library's photo archives. There's nothing like a photograph to put you into history and I just feel that some sort of photographic presence, artistic or not, to help document our spot in history is hugely important whether it's a crazy house, building, event, whatever. I won't obsess but when something like this demolition comes up I only kick myself not having snapped any photos of it before it disappears. Nothing should be forgotten like that.
