Getting Tacoma together

Sarah and I joined some other fellow Tacoma bloggers tonight for a brainstorming session at a local coffee shop. Our goal was to meet and figure out what we can do to give Tacoma more of a voice on the web and to get people out to enjoy this city for what is has to offer. With so many other group and community websites getting together with their common interests in-mind we thought it was time to do the same. We met Derek(of Exit133), James (of Tacomaness), and Jamie and Melissa to mull over the possibilities. We left with some reasonable and some lofty goals but all agreed that we could continue to meet and move forward with some of our ideas. My leaning is toward a community website that allows folks to read and post information, thoughts, and photos while allowing people that already have a web presence to contribute via feeds from their existing website. Even if everyone at our meet up tonight pooled feeds from their current sites we would have a strong presence that would start the process of being a place for Tacomans to meet and get informed about this great place in which we live.

Feel free (whether Tacoma resident or not) to toss your comments in the ring here. Would you use a community-based website? Would you go there for news or more fun stuff like events, photos or conversation? Would you want to contribute by signing up to create your own website? What would it take to make you want to be a part of something like this? I/we appreciate your feedback and look forward to getting this ball rolling.
