Re: Personalized Minimized
This would be an awesome extension if the min/max settings for each feed were memorized when you re-open your browser (I use Firefox).
Have you looked at the "hide preview" option for the Gmail feed? It does the same thing that your extension does but it saves what you last selected. Maybe that's where you can find your solution.
If you do fix it, I'll certainly begin using it. That would make is a great addition to google/ig
Thanks,
Rory

Thanks for the comment, Rory. I'm working on just that currently and should have it up and running some time this week save that the Javascript gods have mercy on me. ;)

This doesn't seem to work with my version of Firefox, which is at 1.5, but not the beta, the official release. I updated to 0.5.1 and it still won't work, so I'm hoping support for 1.5 will be added soon because this looks very useful.

thomas: You're absolutely right -- the icons show but do nothing. I'll check my head and see what's going on to hopefully have a solution by the end of the weekend. Stay tuned... (and thanks for the feedback)

Hey, just wondering about the status of the extension, since its been bout three, three and a half months or so. I figured that either you lost the inspiration/will to continue with it (happens to me sometimes too), or something happened in real life.
Above my concern for the extension, I hope nothing happened and you are doing well.

Thomas: All is well and I'm slowly re-gaining momentum to get these updated. I have newer versions that I've kept to myself and am working on a slight re-design of how these pages work. Maybe I'll just have to plan a hooky day from work to make these happen.
Seriously though, it's this community that got me into this stuff and concern like yours that brings it back again. Stay tuned...

Good to know that you're all right. :)
Also good to know that the extension is still being worked on, because it's just one of those features that surprises you that nobody thought of it before. Seems to me like Google should've thought of this in the first place.

Personalized Minimized 0.6 in the house! You can now show/hide all areas of your personalized Google homepage with this version. Still need to fix that page refresh problem but stick with me on that one.
If anyone finds any problems please feel free to toss them into the comments here. Thanks and enjoy! ~ Kevin

The extension currenty only works for google.com In my case having the personilised page on google.nl it doesn't work. (I stick with .nl for the search options, otherwise there wouldn't be a problem)
Maybe something for the future; to add more toplevel domains (or the possibility for the user to add one)

Aad: Thanks for the suggestion! I added it to my feature list above. I'll do some testing on the international versions of Google Personalized and try and make it happen.

Two suggestions for this excellent extension.
1) When minimized, something to indicate if there's new articles so you could maximize, read and then minimize again. This could really make very efficient use of the real estate.
2 ) This is a good extension. But, now that Google modules can be created, it would be great to migrate this extension in over there. This could have one major benefit - the ability to remotely store which feeds to minimized so you same the same thing across different computers.
Thanks for the great extension. Keep it up!!

mark: I think Google changed the layout of their page which can break how my extension works. I'll have a look and should have no problem releasing a fix.nn

Looks like mark beet me to the punch by over a month. I hadn't used the Google Homepage in a while so I also hadn't realized that Personalized Minimized stopped working until I recommended it to my brother, who installed it but commented that it didn't work.

Also a great extension. Works just fine with Firefox 1.5.0.8
The suggestion of Rory "When minimized, something to indicate if there's new articles" would be nice btw :-)
