Peeping Toms...       •

The night of the 11th Justin, Micah, Matt and I were in our room just hanging out. Justin and I were watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade while Micah and Matt were playing a computer game. We suddenly see a bright light flashing wildly from outside through our window and on to our wall. We all wondered what the heck it was. Matt poked his head over his computer only to see that campus safety was doing the shining. Matt reasoned it out as being related to some pot he thought he smelled in a room near ours earlier in the evening. So, we all continued our various activities.

A few minutes later, there was a knock at our door. It was the senior RA and a campus safety guy. Rachel (RA) asks, "Do you guys have a camcorder going... or something?"

We were stupefied by this and she said, "Well some girls in Ordal saw a blinking red light in your window and thought you were videotaping them." I started to laugh and asked Matt if he had his CD facing out the window. He immediately started joining in the laughter and affirmed my question. We then explained ourselves: the blinking red light is a little LED on the case of Pink Floyd's album Pulse!

They left and we busted up! A bit later Rachael came back and told us that she was sorry but that they actually thought we were going so far as to record the girls bathroom over there! There's more...

Tonight, I find out that almost everyone in this wing knows about it. Somehow. Then... Christina brings a friend of hers from Ordal to our room named Tera. Tera, it turns out has a line of sight straight into our room from Ordal. She said that almost everyone on that side of Ordal knew about it (as a camcorder not as a little harmless LED light) and were cautioning eachother to be careful what they do in front of their window. She told us that they were freaking out so much the one of the girls' mother was here today and told her. The mom was abhorred! Also, they could see the light from our computers shining so they got binoculars out to see what we were doing on them! They even tried to see what we were watching on our TV!

The horrible part is that nobody got back to the girls over there to tell them that this was all a big, fat nothing! There's more...

So, what do I suggest? I said, "Matt! We should put some kind of sign in our window and light it up. Something like and "ON AIR" sign or something! So, we promptly printed out two signs with just that written on them and have them backlit with our desk lamps.
