'Twas a couple weeks before Christmas
With more days passing by
My sweet mother had just sent me
A great blue Grinch Tie.
All homework was done
And not a paper left to do
This musical composition thing
Is all rather new.
As you see just above
My piece is complete
Along with other completed work
I'll now be back on two feet.
"On Beethoven! On Mozart!"
One might shout rather clear
"On Strauss!" and "On Gershwin!"
Nah, maybe not this year.
For these composers have got
What has yet to come to me here.
With all other matters this boy is quite content
Good friends, good music, good weather and the like.
It just hard to imagine the fortune I have
I hope, like holiday money, never all of it is spent.
I now bid you adieu
And wish you goodbye,
Merry Christmas too all
