IRAF ain't so bad
6:30am was the time we returned to Valdosta following our scrubbed Shuttle Launch viewing. Tired and barely walking in a straight line, Erika and I bid eachother a good night as Dr. Leake drove off toward her home. I collapsed in bed until a heart 1pm in the afternoon. I promptly got ready for my day and answered numerous messages and emails bearing much remorse for the Shuttle's delay. Without skipping a beat, I headed off to Neven's Hall and took on the task of reducing a piece of data that we recovered the night of July 8th-9th at Kitt Peak. Jason Gaines led me through the process of cleaning up the spectrum of asteroid 16 Psyche we collected. Although IRAF seems to be the bain of all that is spectroscopy, it's really not very difficult or hard to understand. It's only tedious and can get to be a pain to keep track of files.
After I left work, Jason Looper stopped by my room and asked me to help him move some stuff from his former apartment to his new place. I ablidged, got some spicy chicken strips at Zaxby's, and helped him out.
With out internal clocks about as screwed up as they're going to be, Dr. Leake, Erika, and I have decided to try again for the rescheduled Shuttle launch tomorrow night. This time with an extra passenger, Dr. Cecilia Barnbaum, we'll trudge back down the highway and hopefully be graced with the presence of Mr. Sardonia. Cross your fingers. Let's get this puppy off the ground!
