On the road

After packing, organizing, and amidst a migraine headache that makes quick movements of the head painful, Dr. Leake, Jason Gaines, Jason Looper and I loaded up the VSU Buick station wagon and headed south toward Florida. The drive took us along Florida's Gulf coast through Tallahesee, Niceville (yes, a sign I saw on the freeway), and Pensicola. The sun set and we saw most of the aforementioned cities in only their night time capacity. As Jason G. and I took albums of photos with our digital cameras, the other Jason became jealous of our toys. I think he compensated by busting out the Endust can of diflouroethane. Normally used as a tool to blow off sensitive computer parts, this can of compressed air has written on it warnings about possible frost bite. Consequently, holding the can up side down while squeezing the trigger will not only release the diflouroethane but a cloud of freezing air.

11:40pm rolled around and the two Jasons slept while Dr. Leake drove and I gazed out the Buick's left rear window at the bright constellations to our south. Enya's Watermark album was winding up its second repitition on the portable CD player and the road stretched ever further before us. Cautiously blinking back to life, Jason L. woke up and started up again with the diflouroethane and the 2nd wave began! No more was the gentle hum of the freeway the only audible sound in the car. We all started to laugh and return to consciousness again. The gas gauge nearly read empty and our intrepid driver pulled us off the highway and into RaceTrac gas station outside of Pensacola. We gave the car fuel and a once over for the wind shield and headed down the nearby road to a Waffle House for some midnight consumables.
