Traffic's a Turkey
Taking Sarah and her roommate Amanda to Sea-Tac airport yesterday proved a task worthy of anyone with overflowing quantities of patience. The approximately 30 mile drive was a speedy piece of cake going there. Coming back, however, took a daunting 2 hours. The fact that my Volvo allowed me no extra sight perks due to its foggy window tendencies didn't help how I felt about the return drive. I obviously made it back to school unscathed but I cannot say that I'm looking forward to picking them up from the airport on Sunday (the same day most of the country returns from its Thanksgiving holiday). Stay tuned...
Thanksgiving day itself was very fulfilling. I hit the road for La Center about 9:40am this morning and was expecting smooth, traffic free sailing the entire way. Think again. The weather was more "Northwest" than normal and created a paranoid situation for the first 40 miles or so of my trek. The rain coupled with the moisture spit up by car tires lowered driving visibility to about one or two cars distance. I honestly thought the normal 2 hour trip home would today take 4. Luckily the highway magically cleared and the weather let up halfway through and a mere half hour was tagged on to my travel time. Once home, I had a great time catching up with my brother and spending time with my Grandma and the rest of my family (including Joseph's girlfriend Paige). The food was lovely and it reminded me that there is flavor outside of the UC!
The gravity-like pull of the LuteDome soon took effect and an again found myself puttering back up the freeway toward school. This drive was a smooth one and before I knew it, I was there. Without hesitating I headed back to Gavin's room where he, his brother Tyson and I carried on playing games until the early morning hours.
