More eggnog please
Yes, Christmas time is upon us here at the Freitas household. We celebrated Tomorrow Eve by having a snacky, yet filling, dinner with the whole family (minus one grandma and plus one girlfriend). With little chit-chat we inhaled the goodies, ending that portion of the evening. Next I again set up my mom's bird-spotting scope and [pathetically wobbley] tripod so everyone could take a look at Jupiter and Saturn. It was a tad bit nippley outside but most everyone got a look anyway. Splendid it was. I packed it up and thawed out my fingers just in time for the next segment of the evening: the movie watching. We always start out with the most favorite of perrenial favorites How the Grinch Stole Christmas. No matter what year, Christmas will not begin for me until I see that cartoon. A more perfect Christmas film couldn't exist. We then take in another movie, always alternating between A Christmas Story and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Both are easily close seconds to The Grinch and are just as important to this family's holiday schedule.
My brother, fascinated by the make-shift telescope I've been using, set it up inside our kitchen's breakfast nook so that we may have a look at the rising Moon through the window. With slightly less than a full Lunar surface visible, I trained the scope toward the shadow covered craters on the border between day and night on the surface. With digital camera at the ready I snapped away and recovered a few, what seem to be, decent shots. My next goal, however, is to save my pennies and buy a real telescope. Then we'll see what kind of pictures start showing up on this website.
Oh! I was sifting through some folders of pictures on my computer from the end of the summer and came across some mug shots of Matt Turner's raspy cat Pogy. Understanding that Matt is probably missing this pet while away in Whales, I took to creating a collage in the style that he so often (and, might I say, masterfully) applies to pictures of models or actresses. It's my simple and fun gift to him this Christmas.
To all out there who may actually keep track of the dribble that makes it onto this website, please have a safe, happy, and Merry Christmas! May all your presents unwrap with ease and contain the most excellent gifts.
