1st Anniversary
Sarah and I today celebrate our first anniversary as a married couple. We've been together for a whopping 7 years total which is an accomplishment in itself. We drove up yesterday to Snoqualmie and stayed at the fantastic Salish Lodge. I woke up this morning to the dull roar of the falls and with a beautiful woman by my side. The fire we enjoyed last night burned through the evening and lulled us to sleep. This morning the slight smell of fireplace smoke lingered in the air and seemed to be the theme throughout the lodge. We took a few minutes to get ourselves ready then we headed up to the dining room for a famous country style breakfast.
Once we were seated in a private nook the parade of food began. First we started with some freshly squeezed orange juice followed by a muffin, sticky bun and a cup of fruit, granola and yogurt. I was already full at this point but we'd barely just begun. Next up was a bowl full of oatmeal. Now bursting at the seams, I awaited yet more food. Next up was the main course which, for me, was a plate of three sunnyside up eggs, half a plate of hash browns, a cinnamon smoked sasuage and bacon. Yeah, serious food. Oh, then we ended with a couple pancakes. Sarah was understandably stuffed (as was I) after we enjoyed our breakfast and the view we had of the Snoqualmie Valley and eachother. While I then headed out to grab some more photos she stuck around the room and read the complimentary newspaper.
Once my ears were thoroughly frozen I returned to the room so we could pack up, pay, and retrieve my car before heading home. Our experience at the Salish was a great one and, although short, our stay was a welcome and relaxing break from everyday life. Thanks to my beautiful wife for the recommendation and perscription for bliss that was this weekend and has been our first year of marriage. I know the strength of our relationship as husband and wife as well as best friends has been our binding force and is one that may never know an end. I'll keep looking forward to our adventures experienced both around the house as home owning adults and on yet-to-be-planned trips (next year: ice hotel). The greatest adventure of all, however, is that which we share together in love and I'll always cherish what we've got. Thanks sweetie. I love you.

Such should be the relationship between husband and wife. The love and caring and understanding matter most. May your relationship keeps growing and flourishing.
