Road Trip

Sarah, Toni, her boyfriend David and I are heading south on I-5 right now towards good times and lots of food in Fresno, CA. Sarah and I flew into Oakland in the late afternoon hours. My sister met us as we deplaned and greeted us with hugs. We quickly gathered our baggage and drove across the Bay Bridge into San Francisco to David's graphical design firm Rivet Design, Inc. He opened up the company's portfolio and let me in on some of the often tricky and creative techniques they have to employ in order to provide their clients with the desired product. It was facsinating to have a glimpse into a field that I now consider interesting and a possibility for my own future.

Just down the street from his company's offices we ate dinner at a psuedo-yuppie restaurant in a soon-to-be-developed area surrounding the Bay. David's a great guy that my sister Toni seems to be more than proud to have snagged. Once our stomachs were full of good food we drove back across the Bay to Alameda and their apartment. Lucky for Sarah and I the temperature in the Bay Area had subsided from the 100+ temperatures they saw just the day before. It was supposedly the hottest day ever around there. Yesterday was gorgeous and left their apartment far more comfortable than it was for them just a short day before. We all sat around and watched Whose Line Is It Anyway and then looked through my album of Hawaii photos.

So now we're cruising toward Fresburg and, upon entering the central valley, are in some intense heat. Projected high for Fresno today: 104 degrees. We'll see how we hold up. I'm just going to keep reassuring myself that a) it's dry heat and b) that I was hotter in Georgia last year. Yeah, like that'll make it any cooler.
