Settled in

I apologize for the period of silence here but, I must say, moving into a house kinda' takes one's attention. As of June 1 we all took up our rooms in this house and began the settling process. Slowly, parents provided much of the necessities of house life that we either didn't have or couldn't haul here in one trip. Once all this was done and some groceries were purchased and properly labelled by its owners, life in our first house begun. We've paid our first rent check, got phone service up and running, and it's known that showers taken both up and downstairs at the same time render the upstairs water pressure absent. The general quirks of living in a house become more obvious every day — and I love it. The freedom and responsibility that we all hold feels really good.

Working as a Network Technician for PLU's Computer and Telecommunication Services offers up new vocab words and tangles of network cable. Today was my second day on the timecard and, although slow at times, the situation down in the library basement offices is a good one. All my co-workers are very easy to get along with and they're quick to answer this rookie's questions. I'm sure I'll soon be jumping into trouble-shooting sessions with my own, hopefully valuable opinion, sooner than I know it.

On a bit of a meaningful side note, yesterday marked the 18-monthiversary for my relationship with Sarah. Although we've spent a good fraction of that 18 months separated by anywhere from 100 to 7,000 miles I feel closer to her knowing that nothing has stopped our relationship's momentum thus far. I don't know what you may think when when you read about the various milestones in our relationship but I know that when I write about her it feels like a sort of tribute to us. My words are my record to the world that are meant to say, "This kind of happiness can happen. It's not that hard."
