Here today, gone tomorrow
In the grand fashion of service that has, thus far, been shown from US West, the DSL service I mentioned yesterday is now a no-show. That's right. To facilitate sharing the high-speed connection with my housemates, I backed up, reformatted, and reinstalled Windows 2nd Edition so this would be possible. I loaded up the drivers for the internal DSL modem and checked some settings on my housemates' computers. Sooner than we knew, everyone was sharing in the broadband goodness...
...Until this morning. Without thought of error I pressed the "Connect" button on my screen and got no where. As of this morning, our service was down. No changes to my computer had been made and a call to our ISP revealed no problem on their end. So we're back to dealing with the infamous US West whom I'm holding for on the telephone as I type this. Pathetic as this all may seem, being at the will of a company like this one makes me want to take up life as a monk high in an Eastern monistary totally separated from the evils of technology and the companies behind it all.
