A day in the Emerald City
Having money can really be fun. Since the reception of my paycheck on Friday I've bought groceries and taken Sarah to Seattle to get a summer dress. This may not sound like a lot but the check I receieved was the first big payoff of the summer. You see, working for PLU has it's perks. I can't complain about the commute (one-and-a-half blocks) and my co-workers are relaxed and easy to work/get along with. The only major problem about being a PLU employee is that the good ol' paycheck doesn't come except once a month. And let me tell you, that can get to be a bit of a financial stretch.
But it still stands that I just got paid and wanted to do something nice for Sarah with some of that money. We left our Parkland residence around 11:30am and parked in a garage in Seattle around 5th and Pike. The two of us talked and wandered toward the famous market place in downtown where men fling fish to and fro and boquets of flowers flourish from Friday to Friday. Although no dresses were to be found in this entanglement of people, we pressed onward, one block at a time. Until we found a little store with beautiful, bright dresses in the display. This small shop was owned by the designer of the items found in it. The woman, Karen, was full of a pizazz for getting customers into something they look great in. So of course she loved Sarah. Don't get much more adorable than her. Sare tried a few things on and eventually settled on a long, silk summer dress with gradients that alternated from a bright yellow-orange to a somewhat greyed blue.
We had a stunning time of it downtown. After lunch at a great bagel place and a quick visit to the Nordstrom Rack for some matching shoes, we hit the road back to Parkland. It was great shopping with/for Sarah. She seemed to like having me along too because she couldn't stop talking about how much I helped her with my opinion of the items she tried on. Maybe I've missed my calling. Kevin A. Freitas: Fashion Designer. Nah!
