Going to the chapel
Sarah and I didn't really go to a chapel today but more of a wedding/event place. We got up early this Sunday to head to the wedding of her cousin Laurissa just outside of Portland, OR. Yup, we had to drive a ways for this one folks. Aside from being rather tired and just plain out of it on the trip down, we talked and listened to music for the time it took us to meet up with her family at the wedding. Sarah's mom, dad, and sisters were all there. Despite a cold shoulder from one of the sisters, the rest of Sarah's immediate family (and other members of her distant family) were really easy to be around. The outdoor setting was fine and dandy but slightly UV unfriendly on a day like today. The Sun blazed overhead while the bride and groom were attached to one another in holy matrimony. It's easy to see how vulnerable my ever-revealing scalp is to Sunlight because I had a red top by the end of the ceremony. It's a good healthy glow that guarantees a nice, tan noggin.
Weddings aren't my favorite things in the world at least so I say. But when I actually see them, whether in person or on The Learning Channel, I enjoy myself. I don't get too choked up or teary but weddings are usually lovely affairs. The kicking and screaming that people close to me have to endure before a wedding is really just probably my slight fear of the future. Maybe in some way I feel insecure that I don't really know what's to come in my life whereas the people getting married have at least SOME idea. Overall, however, I don't think that making decisions like marriage are warrented in my life. Once I have an idea of a career I might be able to add on a goal of marriage. Whatever the case, when the time comes it will be right. I won't accept anything less.
