Sunday on Monday
My weekend ends tonight as I type this entry. Saturday found me working most of the day back in the computer center doing some overhauls of the equipment in our machine room. With a pizza lunch provided by our boss we had the energy to complete the tasks without error.
By the time that my weekend actually started on Sunday I was ready to accomplish next to nothing. Matt, Aaron, Gavin and I arranged to stuff all our computers onto the transplanted kitchen table in the living room of our house. Once everything was set up and in good order, the four of us and Sarah played a homemade game of frisbee/aerobee golf around PLU's campus. Without having ever played such a game we just took turns tossing our flying disks at targets that we improvisationally designated for the game. Heck, towards the end of the match Matt even got his frisbee stuck in a snag on lower campus that was surrounded by muck and blackberry bushes and held within it (along with the frisbee) sharp needles on it's limbs and a buzzing hornet's nest. The safe return of the runaway frisbee ended the game and started the network party.
Matt, Gavin and I fiddled around with 3D animation/modeling while Aaron and Sarah teamed up for a Starcraft match against the computer. We all eventually got in to a few games and, after all was said and done, had a great afternoon/evening of computing.
Today was a generally stagnant day. I spent lots of time getting some things organized and spent some time watching The Matrix and Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. I'm ready for the last work week of my job as a network technician to begin. Although I've had a great time with this position, I can't say that I'll be sulking over the loss this weekend while I'm straddling the spine of an active volcano Mt. St. Helens. It's easy to see that I'm counting the minutes to this, the forth time I accept the challenge of this hike.
