Packwood Chronicles
I must say, it's easy to take life in stride most of the time. It is beneficial, however, to stop and enjoy the finer points of our often "time flies when you're having fun" life. So I went to a flea market/vendor fair with my parents in Packwood, WA.
My Volvo and I met up with Mom and Dad just south of here on HWY 7 in Morton. It was great to see them drive up to meet me in the clear cut covered hill-surrounded town. We caught up with one another on the last leg of our journey when we were shocked by the volume of vehicles lined up to enter Packwood. Instead of wait in line, we parked in a lot manned by donation-hungry youth group parents and walked into town.
Traffic remained like this ALL day Squoze between crawling traffic and parallel-parked cars, the mere sight of plots staked out by vendors brought tears to my eyes or maybe it was the smell of JERKY and exhaust tickling my tear ducts. At any rate, the three of us wandered and weaved in a out of some of the vendors. I'm convinced that the bulk of visitors to the event were smoking, leather-skinned, little dog-walkers. Between those people and the junk that was often to be had, it was really pretty hilarious. I'll probably head back this year because, heck, it's irresistible! Besides, it was a good excuse to see my parents.
