Computers for everyone
Last week I found most of the time I spent at work dedicated to today. The workshops are back and this time I had three! With each one I wasn't alone in teaching as my co-workers at PLU Media Services provided their part of the workshop content. From morning to afternoon my time was wrapped in teaching the teachers. It was a great time really especially in the last workshop dubbed Multimedia Basics. My co-worker Jon and I walked a group of just over ten through some basics of multimedia production from scanning photos to editing video and burning CDs. This is the good stuff because it pulls computers from the realm of geeks and nerds and sets it in the laps people who wouldn't normally make it past writing email, typing papers, and surfing the 'net. A good day for me is when I've taught someone that with each new model of computer-related toys they become more useful and less intimidating. This is all a gradual transition that, for most people, is just a byproduct of change. With time, the people will follow suit with whatever change they're presented.
In other news today, on our 26-month-iversary, Sarah talked to her landlord Brian about the possibility of having a kitty in her house. She's felt somewhat down lately because she recently lost a kitty at home that she loved dearly and her friend in horses Paige. This double-whammy led her to pose the question to Brian. Despite the "no pets" note in their contract, he didn't hesitate to give her the go ahead. And she didn't hesitate to speed out to the Humane Society with Kristin and pick out a furry friend an orange-eyed russian blue.
Name: to be announced.
