Baby steps towards fitness
I'm out of shape. And so is my girlfriend. It may not be obvious from our appearance ('cuz damn I look good) but the both of us simply don't get much more exercise than when we get into I pick tickling fights. So out of the blue I suggested to Sarah that we get out and move ourselves towards being fit. She was a little surprised that I would want to do this with her but I reassured her that the minute she complained about her looks it was the first thing that came to mind. Exercising with Sarah is a great way to spend time with her away from our normal confines. So far we're taking it easy by walking about a mile-and-a-half and jogging only 1/2 mile. We're in no hurry with this thing and knowing how much I hate jogging any long distance, I don't want to frighten myself away from this. So we'll ease ourselves into a routine in which we'll slowly work our way up to different challenges. Can't run a marathon on the first day of practice.
On another front, tomorrow is my only day at work for today is President's Day (a holiday at PLU) and Wednesday I leave with the rest of the jazzers at school for the 2001 Lionel Hampton Festival of Jazz. For my solo competition debut I rehearsed with the very gracious and hard-working rhythem section to simply nail down my two charts for this Thursday. I'm ready. It'll be a nerve-wracking afternoon but I'll be better for it. On the jazz choir front we're more than ready. We have 4 very challenging charts that I'm sure we'll do well on.
It'll be a great trip and a great week. Stay tuned here for results from our performance in Moscow (Idaho) and, if you're interested, click on Misc. above to see the stats from Sarah's and my new exercise routine. Ciao for now!
