Gettin' to know the town

Our plan today was to get out and survey some rental possibilities. Sarah, Gavin, Holly and I took off just after 9am this morning with maps and lists in-hand as we visited some area spaces for rent to give them our collective thumbs-up or -down. More than anything else I'd say I have a better idea of two things: 1) the layout of Tacoma and 2) which parts I could live in. Now, every city has its good and bad spots but I hadn't really thought they are spread so evenly within its limits. One street has nicely restored homes with trimmed and solid green lawns while the next street's yard is brown with neglect and paint peels from the house's walls. Without going into to much detail, here's a rundown of this set of rental possibilities.

After spending the entire day out searching for a dwelling, I gave my sister a call for today is her birthday (she and Phil the Groundhog share this special day) and I wanted to wish her a great one. We talked for a while and she let me know that if she and David end up working somewhere like Scotland(!) they want Sarah and I to take care of their cat Lou while out of the country. Unfortunately any pet brought over to the United Kingdom must reside in quarunteen for 6 months -- an unacceptable proposition for Lou's owners. One more cat is just one more fuzzy baby to love!
