Can't stop the redesign
Separation of church and state: relatively simple. Separation of work and play: relatively simple -- usually. For me my work in web development at PLU is fun. I constantly have opportunities to challenge my mind and have fun doing so. Whether meeting deadlines or exploring some unknown aspect of web design I can manage to enjoy work. You can also probably easily surmise the fact that I also enjoy doing this stuff on my own time. There's plenty of cross-over when I learn something at home or at work it can contribute to the success in both arenas. Enter, the design.
Here at KevinFreitas.net we like to keep things fresh and updated so our faithful readers have plenty of material with which to whiddle away the hours. I recently embarked on a project to redesign this website to place it in a context into which both design and tech can co-exist harmoniously. Please feel free to have a peek at my progress and likewise feel free to leave your comments. They'll probably have no bearing whatsoever with this redesign 'cause it's my page and I will do with it what I please. But don't let that prevent you from writing for it gives me some sense of who out there loves me. The new design will also include some form of guestbook which you may also use to shower your love upon me. Boy, I'm a selfish little cuss tonight.
Oh, we also had a great day her in Tacoma. Clear blue skies and warm temperatures made our bike ride to the "Art on the Ave" street festival a pleasant one. Gavin, Sarah and I arrived just in time to hear Mr. Blackwatch play their noon set in front of Jazzbones (our best local jazz dive). Our buddy Brooke Farnsworth plays bari sax, clarinet and foot percussion in the group which, to me, was a satisfying cross between (this assessment's for your, Matt Cameron!) the animal-centered lyrics of Presidents of the USA, the whitty content of They Might Be Giants, and rhythmic and instrumental richness of Dave Matthews Band. We spent a little time after their set wandering the festival and then weaved our way on the back streets to home. I then worked on my website redesign and headed on a bike ride down to (and back up from) Ruston Way. Sarah and I enjoyed the evening breeze down by the water for a little bit then slowly headed back up the mammoth hill separating sea level and our house. Gotta get into shape -- one hill at a time.
Robot! Bongos!
