My Chinese name

Avoiding all thing 9-11 today so I'll make sure all of you can pronounce my given Chinese name. Our professor today passed out a list to all the students in my class. On it was typed our English name, our newly appointed name in Chinese both in pinyin and in character. My name, in pinyin, is:

Roughly translated it has something to do with two ships tied together in celebration. I think. Perhaps the three hours of homework I accomplished tonight will help me along the path to understanding just what the Chinese language is all about.
