Meatwad on my mind

Many multiple months ago I found myself shopping at the Tacoma Mall with Sarah for who-knows-what. I can't really remember since it was the last time I set foot in a mall and, as I said, it was a good six months or more ago. Somewhat like a beakon of woven light a T-shirt caught my gaze from across a row of kiosks. Drawn to it I mumbled something to Sarah about "be right back..." and planted my nose firmly up against the display window of the store. Although untrue, I did spot a shirt from across the mall and headed right over there. The shirt read, simply, "Got Meat?" with an image of the famous Meatwad from Cartoon Network's Adult Swim set of cartoons.

Meatwad is the ultimate underdog who is always being picked on through attempted burgercide by his housemate Shake (yes, he's an actual milk shake). As if to make a statement in support of all the "little guys" out there, I bought the shirt. Fast forward to today...

A fellow PLU employee has been spending some time in the computer lab I work in revising the campus course catalog. The combination of an office move and ample software led her to us but what I wasn't expecting today was that we'd both come to work wearing the very same Meatwad T-shirt. Commonalities like this help you get to know a person. Through the shirt we realized a common bond found through the twisted animated humor that comes with not only the Aqua Teen Hunger Force but all the wonderful shows on Adult Swim. Yes, it's the little things. I did, however, remind her that I had mine first and that made me cooler. She reminded me that she got hers on sale and when I paid $18 for mine she only paid $5. Doh!
