And [Gav] would [cycle] 500 miles
Busy day for me today started at Spanaway High School just south of PLU where a major lunch time stop on the Seattle to Portland cycle trek this weekend. In the sun the weather was toasty but most riders found some worthy shade in which they spent their down time. It seems like every biker is well taken care of with food and nurishing goo packets along with a repair station employing Nascar-like effeciency. I was just waiting to see a bike being serviced with rider still pedaling that, once reconnected with the pavement, the wheels would squeal, kick up a puff of smoke and see then on their way. Didn't see that though.
I waited around about a half hour until Gav and his buddy rode up looking none the worse for wear. Although only 1/4 along the way into their weekend ride, both seemed to feel pretty good and thought their training jaunts really paid off. Saw some pretty cool bikes and very many of them. I'd like to say that I'll partake in this race someday but I'm not making any promises. That's a goal right up their with hiking the Pacific Crest and Appalachian trails.
Anywho, after that I buzzed up the Bellevue to meet with a client to bring to a close my first freelance web project. Although our timeline was a bit elongated the site turned out wonderful. Today I trianed the client and some of her student workers/receptionists to update and maintain the site. Once a few editorial pieces are updated they'll launch the site. She treated us to some excellent Chinese at the Cafe Ori near the Microsoft campus and had some good conversation getting to know one another a little better.
Once home Sarah and I treated ourselves to a screening of Spiderman 2. Although I'm not sure what to think about serialized films leaving strands of the story open to further sequels, it was a really solid story with some excellent action. About the serial thing, I guess it makes me feel a bit insecure that if I get so rapped up in a story and its continuation that I'll be let down once a flick does lacklustre business and I'm left pining for further installments when the boys down in marketing don't think it's profitable to go any further. Man... then I'll have to slog through volumes of fan fiction so I can get my fix and, at risk of relationship and personal hygiene, might pen my own. Ah!!! Wake up time. Good thing I'm not that easily snagged into that sort of capitalist brainwashing.
