Morning farewell and evening LAN party

We awoke this morning a little earlier than usual for a Saturday to have breakfast and to bid my sister a fond farewell at the end of her latest visit to the States. After packing my computer stuff and a few hugs I drove Toni up to SeaTac airport and saw her off. From there I headed further north to West Seattle to join Matt at his place for a little LAN gaming. We went for a walk around lunch time up the hill to town for some Taco Del Mar and to pick up a couple take-n-bake pizzas. After I finished up some freelance work and once Gavin and his brother Tyson arrived we cracked open a virtual safe worth of games (old and new) and played until about 3am in the morning. Although the standard commercial fare like UT2004 are great games my particular favorite of the evening was a 2-D shooter called Soldat. It takes the 3-D ideas of all these first person shooters and puts it in a simpler, side-scrolling perspective while still maintaining interesting game types (e.g. capture the flag), great sound effects, and over-the-top blood and guts. It's also free to download! If you want to go a few rounds, just let me know.
