Flavorless water
We were treated to a B.F. Acres original waffle and thick, crunchy bacon breakfast with my mom, dad, uncle Lanny and grandma. We talked about life, entertainment and politics as we enjoyed our food before heading out for an afternoon of shopping at the Troutdale Outlet Mall. Sarah and I were tempted to head back up to Tacoma right after breakfast but couldn't bear to since we'd had so little time to spend with my uncle after driving down yesterday. We spent a little over an hour in Troutdale and made it out with our bank accounts relatively unscathed. I picked up an industrial strength wire cheese cutter and nalgene bottle. With those two simple purchases two major annoyances in my everyday life were struck down.
The first comes from a long lineage of cheese slicers that just couldn't cut it, so to speak. The wire ones I'd previously owned found a way to break or stretch so any piece cut was about a quarter of the block of cheese (and at $9.49 per 2lb block, that's pretty spendy!). This bad boy has a seriously hefty roller and a wire anchored by two brass rectangular solids that hopefully won't come loose like a wire loosely wrapped around two screws as the old ones did.
I suck on a water bottle during my day and down probably 32oz of the stuff. I swear it's the only thing keeping me healthy! After the lid to my beautiful cobalt blue bottle mysteriously dissappeared I snagged a cycling bottle Sarah got for free when she bought her bike at a local shop. It has a nice grip and is a decent size but it always left the water I pilfer from our staff water cooler tasting like plastic. I tried the dishwasher, burning hot water, dish soap (bad idea since it then tasted like Dawn), and a few drops of lemon juice but nothing worked. Thankfully the new nalgene meets all the criteria I enjoyed in the last bottle with the one perk that the water stays as flavorless throughout the day as when I poured it in the morning.
Anyway, we shopped then ate a Mexican lunch at La Guadalajara in Woodland, WA before driving back to Tacoma. Mmm... Juevos Rancheros...

I speak here as the 1997 Foreign Language Award recipient from my high school, when I remind you that it's "Huevos Rancheros".

However, I'll make an exception for your choice of spelling, if you happen to be a devout follower of the oh-so-talented Juevos Boys: http://juevosboys.tripod.com/

"1997 Foreign Language Award recipient", eh? I wouldn't boast so quickly, my friend. Especially when a certain friend, who sat behind you in your Spanish class, whispered ALL the correct answers into your ear. This friend, who happens to be VERY good-looking, is well aware that the award was given to the wrong recipient. In case of any concern, be aware that she has forgiven you long ago for not accepting the award on her behalf.
As you are also aware, the "1997 Language Arts Award" was also given in error to the wrong student. This will be mailed to your address shortly.

I would like to point out that IKEA has really good cheese slicers. In case this one ever break down, or is driven over by a car or something.

Hmm... Good tip! My hopes are this one will cut the mustard (or, more preferrably, the cheese) for some time to come. Besides, trips to Ikea lead to much store wandering and wishing that, if turned into reality, I can't afford.
