Why I'm not voting Nader this time around

The following is a chunk of an email I sent to a couple folks that might vote Nader in this election. I figure, since I voted for Ralph in the last two elections, maybe I can help explain to them why I'll be voting for John Kerry this time around.

• He's not "W".
• He's not backed by W's people. Unfortunately Ralph Nader is being used by the right wing and actually funded by them to get on as many ballots as possible simply to disrupt the number of votes John Kerry might receive. I think Nader, if he gathers the proper support, deserves to be on the ballot. I just don't think he should get there with the push he's receiving from the GOP.
• I believe the pendulum has swung so far in one direction that this country isn't ready for it to swing all the way back in the other. I voted for Nader in the past two elections. After Clinton in 2000 I really believed that this country was ready for another choice and some fresh, new ideas. Unfortunately, our country has fallen for W's charm or charisma or whatever it is and is somehow enamored with this complete dunce. Maybe after some more prosperity and open-mindedness we'll again be ready for a 3rd party.
• Although both Kerry and Edwards are decidedly wealthy individuals both chose the road less traveled. Edwards fought for patient's rights as a lawyer then became a senator. Kerry volunteered to go to Vietnam, then protest what he experience over there and has since dedicated his life to service as a senator for 20 years.
• I don't want to be truly embarrassed to travel abroad. Yes, Americans are loud and don't know any languages and I've accepted that as the norm when I travel. But right now, I'm damn near ashamed to even impose myself on anyone in another country because I feel I'll be associated with the crappy decisions "W" has made while in office. Kerry is more open to the fact that we live in a small world and that every voice must be heard before making incredible decisions that certainly effect the rest of the world as well as the U.S.
• Which family portrait would you like hanging up for all the world to see: A drunken frat boy, his subdued school-marm wife, and two partying daughters or a man who's served his fellow man, a wife who knows the world and will speak her mind of it, a daughter who recently completed film school and one studying to become a doctor. I'll take door #2 please.
• John Kerry doesn't sound stupid. I don't care how intelligent "W" may or may not be but John Kerry sounds like a man who thinks a little before he speaks rather than rattle off a slurry of "uhs" and "duhs" before still saying nothing. Besides, John Kerry can pronounce the word "nuclear".
• One of Kerry's plans I love is that any high school graduate willing to volunteer in their community for two years will be guaranteed full tuition to an in-state college. I love the idea because it helps focus folks on one another and then rewarding that with the promise of higher education.

I just thought of a great little anti-"W" phrase. Tell me if you like it:

"What good is a leader if the only thing he's leading is his rich buddies to the bank?"
