Who's the second man to step onto the Moon?

Exactly.

Tonight's vice presidential debate was far less of a spectacle than seeing cranky George fussing and frowning last week. Both Senator Edwards and VP Cheney did a strong job making their cases of support for their parties and presidential candidates. Senator Edwards projected himself as a strong figure who, despite a lack of government experience, can handle anything this administration and their screw-ups can throw at him. Cheney also did well because he can complete a sentence. Although unwilling to acknowledge the fact that his paycheck writer Halliburton got billions of dollars in no-bid contracts for the reconstruction of Iraq he did a better job than his boss at actually forming thoughts into sentences without sounding like a broken and scratchy record. Although no tough issues really shined though or provided us with any new insight, both men served their presidential candidates well. Bottom line: kinda' boring. I'm willing to admit that. What I'm also willing to admit is that Dick Cheney would have a better chance running for President than "W" does -- and for an old man who resembles the unmasked Darth Vader that's saying a lot. Nevertheless: Watch | Listen | Read tonight's debate.

Oh, and Mr. Cheney, that website is FactCheck.org not FactCheck.com. Before you invoked the hip idea of an internet domain name, you should check your facts.

So in the world of the Oval Office it's plain to see that it's not the VP's we're supposed to be dazzled with so much as the P's.

Unfortunately, I only caught the last 40 minutes or so. I agree that both men offered a strong case for their respective tickets. From what I saw, I felt that Edwards was by far easier to relate and listen to, while Cheney seemed to have more content (whether or not it's true, I'll look to factcheck). I thought the most poignant moment was during the final statements: Edwards thanked Cheney and Gwen then went into his speech; Cheney only thanked Gwen. Subtle, but I just found it humorous.

And yes, Cheney definitely resembles old Anakin.

I also think Edwards had good explanations about the "trial lawyer" stigma and how he'd prefer malpractice suits go through a review process before hitting the courts. Sounds extremely reasonable especially since our judges today are likely far too busy with frivolous cases than they'd like to handle.

I appreciated Edwards' personal stories, too. When Cheney tried it I really thought it seemed out of character.

As the commentary began after the debate on ABC I also noticed that the crowd in the room where the debate was held seemed to cheer loudly multiple times while nothing perked up for Cheney. It's the little things...

I love noticing all the little details concerning the overall production and presentation of the debate. At the end, both candidates tried to come off as being "family men"; Cheney by milling around with his wife, niece (?), etc. and Edwards by hoisting up his kids. It's just interesting how much those little details affect people's perceptions of the VP candidates.

I'm excited for the next Prezbate (tomorrow?), although I'll more than likely be in class. Hopefully I'll catch up utilizing your handy-dandy links!
