An open letter to Sen. John Kerry
Senator Kerry,
Why did you quit? You had the passion and support of half the nation behind you on November 2 and you and your running mate both just disappeared. Why? There's no harmony to be had in a nation uncertain that its voting procedures went smoothly and that we're now more focused on the voting in Ukraine than we are here. Why? We put up a hell of a fight and instead of healing and harmony half the nation's people are left wondering what's next? We rallied behind you for regime change right here in our own country and we're now left with nothing. The Republicans aren't going to attempt to heal anything -- I haven't seen Bush give a speech on unity or reach out in any way to the other side of the isle. It will be precisely the opposite for the next four years and I'm deeply concerned about the course of our country and its policy.
So, what happened? Where'd you go? If you an John Edwards were such successful lawyers why didn't you appeal the voting in numerous states that have showed irregularities and voter fraud? We all want answers and want to be certain that our votes really will count in the future.
My goal for you as Senator is to introduce legislation to completely standardize voting across this nation be it electronic (with receipts, of course) or otherwise. No one can have confidence in this system until it's reformed. Oh, and it'd be swell to throw out that electoral system too, if you please.
Thank you for your time and I hope all is well with you, Senator Edwards and both your families.
With kind regards,
Kevin A. Freitas
Tacoma, WA
