Moving on her birthday

My beautiful wife today turns 26 and, despite the busy schedule of minor kitchen remodeling and moving, I wanted to get her something really special. The first gift I presented this morning was a copy of the lastest game in her favorite series called Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. She's played the Oddworld games since the first one crossed her laptop screen early in college up to the other recent Xbox title Munch's Odyssey. Anyway, my wife definitely has a nerdy streak in her and I love her for it. Second, I snuck over the Proctor yesterday and got her a gift certificate to a local day spa. She'll be able to indulge in a 60 minute massage, facial, pedicure and manicure or other combinations of services this particular facility offers. Since times get stressful and I'm just not the massouise I used to be I thought she could use this as a little escape whenever she needs it most.

The rest of the day was spent with my dad and Sarah's mom mostly over at the new house. Dad came up with a load of tools so we could make room for our new stove/oven. We had to cut out a drawer and trim back the edges of the counter where the former stove/oven sat but, in the end, we emerged successful. Actually, we did it in record time and, well before noon rolled around and after some Round Table Pizza lunch, we headed out to Home Depot to get supplies for some wire pantry and hallway closet shelving. Back at home Dad cut the shelves to fit and I attached the mounting brackets and, before we could say "Thank you, mega-super-corporate-hardware store Home Depot," we were done.

We kept on moving little things into the evening and had a late dinner with Sarah's mom at a nearby Subway. From there, we made one more load then hit the bed for the night. Thanks to both parents for all the help and I'm sure we'll be thanking them more soon for all the help they'll surely be in the coming months and years when it comes to home improvement.
