Kevin: Domesticated

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, there is a new breed of Kevin among us. The Kevinnus Domesticas or, a guy who now owns a lawn mower and has successfully hooked up a dishwasher. In the previous week-and-a-half since we moved in I've been wrestling with the dishwasher in question first with getting the correct parts for the job, then buying more parts, then spilling some water on the floor, then buying a couple more parts, then finally getting it right. Turns out the key to making this bad boy behave came from plenty of teflon tape and some serious elbow grease. I managed to connect the hot water line to the appliance numerous times but couldn't successfully get it to stop leaking at the elbow joint that connects directly to the dishwasher. Tonight, however, I wrapped the dishwasher end of the elbow six or seven times with teflon tape and tightened that sucker one turn past what I thought was reasonable. After an hour with the hot water valve turned on and no drips anywhere in sight, we loaded it up and let 'er rip!

Earlier tonight I stopped by Home Depot and returned one set of parts I didn't need for the dishwasher and picked up some solar powered flood lights and a push reel lawn mower. After dinner Sarah and I went to the garage and put it together. Then I set myself and the mower loose on an area of our lawn. The contraption seems to cut really well and, with the addition of a catcher, should work out just great for our city lot-sized lawn. About the catcher, yeah, the employees in and around the lawn mower accessory isle weren't much help. First they said they didn't even know if catchers for such mowers existed (???) and second one of them was convinced that the mower I was to purchase was $179 when it was actually only $60. It's hard to find good help these days.

Oh, and did I just wake up or is there a crazy new batch of nickels out there? Weird!
