Saturday doin' stuff

This morning Sarah and I had to get up in time to meet with a salesperson from Celebrity Foods. She came prepared with clever, PowerPoint-like visual aids and nearly had us convinced. Unfortunately, they don't really tailor their food services to young couples like Sarah and I that don't want to purchase a standalone freezer just to hold the six month supplies they require you to purchase. No thanks! I'm sure the quality of their meats is great but 1) we don't eat tons of meat, 2) how much freakin' meat can two people eat?, and 3) their pitch of convenience doesn't resonate with us since we already shop for groceries online, are quite happy with it, and also have two Safeway stores within a 2 mile radius.

After deciding against Celebrity's services, we got ready for the day. We first headed downtown to buy a photo album from a cool art furniture store called Seven Muses in downtown Tacoma. From there we stopped by Sarah's work then we headed across town for my visit to Tacoma Boys. This 24-hour market has flora for your garden, fruits and veggies from local gardens, local goods, and great meat and fish. I'm sure this is certainly high season for this sort of thing but I'm sure we'll be utilizing their goods and services -- especially if we need to pick up some wine or salmon in the middle of the night.

After we got home, popped some cherries we just bought, we walked a couple blocks to a group of local neighborhood garage sales. We didn't find much of interest save for a badminton set and our only purchase of a snazzy tool belt for all that home improvement we'll surely be doing.

I did some freelance before we decided to rent a video tonight. Sarah had a hunger for Thai and was being lured in by the new East & West Cafe in Proctor. Not enthused about their tastes, I made a compromise with her to let me clean myself up at home then head out to our favorite Galanga Thai in downtown Tacoma. As always, we had a great dinner and spent the time, prompted by a prom-going group of youngsters, looking back at our high school prom experiences.

We watched our rental Sideways and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Will we drink more wine because of that movie? Signs say "no". I'd like to think we're not that impressionable.
