"Honk if you wish you were a unicorn"
Sarah and I woke up and got ourselves ready to drive home today. We left Mandy's house this morning to meet her and Terry for breakfast at a Shari's north of Bend. I gobbled down waffles with strawberries and whip cream and a plate of breakfast sausage before we bid farewell to our friends and Central Oregon. Although I completely missed a stop at a cool canyon near Bend we made good time to the tree-lined boundary between east and west Oregon and then onto the Portland/Vancouver area. We had some lunch with Sarah's mom, sister, and sister's boyfriend. It was a great break before visiting with my parents in La Center and before we drove north to Tacoma.
The traffic up wasn't bad until the Olympia area. It took an extra half hour or so to get home but we were tickled by some girls entertaining themselves in an SUV flashing a sign to drivers that read "Honk if you wish you were a unicorn". I, of course, egged them on and offered up a honk and, on another pass, pointed my finger from my forehead as though I was already a unicorn. In a related case of sixth sense-ism there was a mention of some futuristic uni-clam creatures tonight on the Simpsons and something about some unicorns a Puget Sound area girl was painting to raise money for a surgery.
We unpacked, did some chores, thank our neighbor for tending to our kitties, then headed for bed. Thanks to Mandy for the incentive to visit and for the hospitality of her and Terry. We had a wonderful trip and will cherish the memories.

haha, the last time we were in Bend, we got behind a nasty old truck that this guy had raised. This truck rode on wheels that were 4 feet in diameter (seriously). You know that kind of job is expensive, and those wheels aren't cheap at that size. And did I mention that the truck was a P.O.S.? Anyway, it had a bumper sticker on the back that read: "I raised my truck, cuz fat chicks can't climb".
Classy.
Needless to say, we laughed ourselves into compulsive fits.

It was pretty surprising to me how swingin' a place Bend is now with the revitalization going on and all. Mandy's man Terry told us it's up where he lives, just north of town, that it's more conservative, red neck country.
Didn't see any outrageous trucks but saw plenty of locals floating on the river with a drink or two in-hand. Ah... Oreegun.
