Monday holiday blues
Man the holidays can really take it out of you. After shuffling around a bit this weekend there didn't seem to be much time to relax and catch our breath. It's amazing how, despite our best efforts, our weekends keep filling up with things to do. I'm the kinda' guy who needs down time in my routine. As much as I'd like to think I can get into the "go, go, go" of a place like New York I really enjoy a little doing nothing. Especially this time of year. Even though we're pretty much done with our Christmas shopping and avoided the malls in the process the short days coupled with much to do can really wear on you. The forecast this week leading up to the shortest day of the year and Christmas calls for rain. I really don't have a problem with the rain but, this time of year, the darkness the clouds brings can be pretty imposing. I'm fortunate to have Sarah by my side along with a couple awesome kitties to get me by. Without her sweet lips and their soft fur, I might go nocturnal on everyone and just get used to this time of year. I can't suppose living in the dark would do well for my skin tone though.

Wait until you are my age. I just watch and listen to everybody trying to make the holidays just right for their family. I used to do that when the girls were young. Now I can just relax and know that somehow it will all get done and I try to enjoy it for once. Don't sweat the small stuff.

I feel your yearning for down time, Kevin. Holidays, coupled with moving, have kept me on the go, go, go for a couple weeks now. I'm exhausted!
