Photos ~ Steve's birthday dinner

Tonight we had shared an intimate, four-person birthday party for our buddy Steve (of the Fergusons). We met at the local Ruby Tuesday's and had some laughs over a darn decent dinner. The night before I spent making a customized card for the special birthday boy. With Sarah art direction skills I only had to go through one revision before getting everything right. The card's concept is based around Steve sharing a birthday with Denzel Washington and spiraled into silliness from there. Anyway, happy birthday Steve and here's to many more!

Rooftop smiley face in Tacoma

Just as I was utilizing Google Maps to find the Ruby Tuesday's near our place for a friend's birthday dinner tonight, I noticed something funny. As I almost always do, I switched the view to a satellite/road lines hybrid to better get a lay of the land. What did I see nearby the establishment in question? A smiley face that was as clear as day. I thought for a second my eyes were deceiving me but found that on top of a building in University Place near Tacoma there's a large smiley face with two guys names signed nearby. I further confirmed its existance with a quick trip over to Microsoft's Terraserver satellite maps. Don't believe me? See for yourself:

Not sure what building it's on. We were just over there last night and think it might be a commercial complex/building. Now that I look closer, however, we thought last night it was the building two to the south with the red overhangs but it's right behind the bowling alley -- probably a two-story (judging by the shadow) apartment complex or something.

I actually found the parcel number for the site(see http://www.co.pierce.wa.us/cfapps/atr/epip/summary.cfm?parcel=6465000067) and it actually is likely a commercial complex. Best of all, it's owned/developed by Bodine Enterprises based here out of Tacoma. What's the owner's name? Bruce Bodine. Still not sure who Dan is but it's a good start.

I wonder if I call Bruce up about it if he'd let me on the roof to take some photos?
