Deconstructing Christmas

There were numerous goals swirling around in our minds today. I'm proud to say we took care of most of them. After an outing this morning wherein, among other things, I picked up a used Xbox to someday act as a backup server, we removed nearly all signs of the holidays. Sarah worked on indoor decorations while I removed the Christmas tree. It was inder dry from a lengthy stint in our house. Normally we don't hunt for a tree until mid-December but had to be more proactive this year due to our hosting a housewarming. I schlepped the noble nobel behind the house and hacked it into a few big chunks then de-limbed most of those. It was then stuffable size so I nearly filled our yard waste bin with it and went along my way. From there we removed all the Christmas lights and I only managed to break two bulbs when I got a little impatient and didn't want to wait for Sarah to lend a hand at one point. Oh, well -- those things grow on trees, right?

So now the house is back to normal. In place of a tree we placed our small glass table which allowed me to hook up the two rear speakers of our stereo system. Now we have Dolby 5.1 goodness by which we can listen to movies and video games. And that's pretty much how the rest of the day went. I'm glad we accomplished something but I'm seriously happy to have some down time to relax.
