Cell phone no-no
Today I committed a minor sin against myself. When answering nature's call I answered another call. One from my cell phone. Ever since my buddy Micah took calls on the cordless phone in the bathroom of our college rental house I took a silent, internal vow never to do such a thing myself. I broke that vow today at work when I took a call I knew to be from Sarah while away from my desk in a "private office". To be fair, I knew it was Sarah because she IM'd me right before I stood up to leave my desk. I was experiencing a particularly packed day solid with programming something a client wanted ASAP. Knowing I had plenty to do she was probing me for lunch plans and the time had come to make a decision whether or not to join her and some of her co-workers. I'd made my decision when the IM came to my screen but my bladder was full of my morning water and I couldn't wait any longer. The minute I began doing my business a buzz came from my pocket and was Sarah calling to get my final answer. I took to call and quietly informed her I needed to stay at my desk to finish up some work.
I don't anticipate this becoming a growing trend because it just seems gross. If I have to wash my hands after using the loo does that mean, after talking on my cell, that I'd need to disinfect it too? Will a company soon come out with a line of layered phone covers one could just peel away after an encounter of the bathroom kind? Only time will tell...

Late seasons snow in North Tacoma
A pale what dusting of snow fell with last night's storm. Although the winds did no damage around here the dusting is a lovely end to a great winter. Flakes of white stuff fell just a few minutes ago. As I slurped my morning bowl of cereal I saw the snow falling out of the corner of my eye. Knowing she would want to see, I hurried downstairs and threw open the blinds for Sarah to see. Granted, it's not quite as dramatic as a foot of snow plus we're not kids who would get to play much in anything that fell. Instead, I got a couple groans and a complimentary squinty-eyed look out the window from the comfort of the bed. She probably couldn't make out the snowflakes without her contacts or glasses but the effort was there and that's all that matters to me.
The snow, at this elevation, is not long for this world as the temperature is already a few degrees above freezing. Nevertheless, as I wrap us this entry, a flurry still dances around in the air before hitting the ground to mostly melt. Thanks, Ma Nature, for the late-season delight. I promise we'll make good use of it when we're up snowboarding this weekend and enjoying the drought-free conditions this summer.
