The zen of video portability
After I picked up a Creative Zen Vision a couple weeks ago I have hardly put it down. Today was no different as I sucked the battery dry listing to music and watching a video. How that video got to the device was, however, a somewhat circuitous route that worked flawlessly. In the words of B.A. Baracus COL Hannibal (thanks for the correction, Jeff), I love it when a plan comes together. Here's how it went:
Used my Palm from downstairs at home to VNC to my desktop to start it downloading a video. I checked in from work via Java-based VNC through the web browser Safari to see if it was done. Once it was, I FTP'd the video file up to our server where I then used my PC at work to grab the file. Once downloaded, I broke out my 257-in-one card reader and copied the file over to my digital camera's CF card. From there I loaded the card into the Zen and transferred the video. Once on the device, it played flawlessly and I enjoyed watching it during my lunch break.
It's nice when stuff you think should work, works.

Tonight's crazy drivers
Either a full Moon was hiding behind the clouds tonight or there's something in the water. Tonight on my way home from work I nearly ran into a barrel full of crazy's on the road. Here's the [near] rundown:
• one guy nearly ran a light coming from my right to almost barrel through the intersection and into me
• another chap waiting at the next light coming from the opposite direction beat me off the green and turned hurriedly in front of me
• yet another guy stopped for no reason coming from a cross street as I approached a train crossing before hanging a left onto that street - he had the right of way
• one motorist turned the wrong way on a short one-way to weasel his way onto a hard-to-reach street after driving through a strange interchange (am I right, fellow Tacoma citizens?) near my wife's work
• one driver decided, after being stopped, to drive through a red light between cross traffic for no apparent reason (didn't see any fires nor pregnant ladies myself)
• one guy with a smoke hanging loosely from his lips, ran up aggresively behind me to get by to make a hasty, impatient right turn
I know I've been known as a bit of a grandpa behind the wheel but at least I can say I'm not as looney as all these people. Where are those matter transporters Sarah keeps promising me?
