Get your [Pacific] Square on tomorrow, May 4

Someone I know posted an entry on her site with some depressing photos of Tacoma's newly dedicated Pacific Square. In the middle of a comfortable, clear spring day there's nobody there. It's a beautiful spot now let's get out and enjoy it a bit, shall we? Toss a blanket in your car when you go to work. Bring a little lawn chair. A good book. Anything! Just get out and use this wonderful space 1) before the folks that frequent Fireman's Park find out and 2) to pull yourselves away from that stagnant office air. Trips back and forth to Starbucks don't count for "getting out". There's no harm in showing your face in a public place. Heck, you might even get to know someone in this great town of ours. And, for goodness sake, as Sarah mentioned, can we get some wifi out there? We were, after all, formerly known as "America's Most Wired City"!

I have an office lunch today but will be grabbing a bagel across the street at Cascade Bagel & Deli tomorrow and enjoying it at Pacific Square around noon to make good on this little rant. Feel free to stop by if you want to chat -- I should be easy to find since I'll be the only one there. See you tomorrow!

It certainly is -- hope to see some people out there today! Looks like it's going to be a beautiful one.

w00t! I wasn't quit a "flash mob" but thanks to Sarah, Jeff, and Jamie for coming on out. It was pretty toasty out there in the noon sun so I can only hope some landscaping to add shade to Pacific Square is forthcoming.
