Fire and Water Sundries Grand Opening 6/10

After some lunch while out yesterday enjoying the local Parade of Homes we spotted a new store opening soon on St. Helens. The owner (Ocean, I believe) saw us outside and filled us in. Fire and Water Sundries carries all sorts of natural soaps, bath salts, incense, lotion, candles and more! Ocean is excited about their space and it should be a nice addition to the neighborhood especially with all the new condo residents moving in. He handed us a flier for a preview party before their grand opening and we'll definitely be there check it out. It's hard to pass up a local business that provides natural products! Check them out at 711 St. Helens Ave. starting June 10th!

Photos ~ Practice house fire near Union and 19th

I happened upon a fire while out running errands this afternoon and decided to drive up for a closer look. Thankfully it was a practice fire set on a house at 1917 S Washington St. just off the intersection of S. Union and 19th. The picture taking was good for me and for the fire department who, at one point, all posed in front of the burning structure for a photo. On-lookers enjoyed the show and always let other concerned folks know it was just for practice. Strange sight, nevertheless, and when you see huge chunks of a house come crashing down it gives you pause as to the power that fire yields.

Enough jibbah jabbah now -- show me the photos!

Photos ~ Stadium High Tiger Walk

After photographing that practice fire and costco I happened upon another weekend event. This one came in the form of a traffic-blocking group that passed in front of me while I waited at an intersection. The Tiger Walk was a ceremony to move a bronze tiger statue from their current, temporary campus back to the classic Stadium castle currently finishing up renovations. So, what did I do while waiting in my car for the police guided group to pass by? I snapped pictures!
