Photos ~ Premium Motors downtown showroom
I previously wrote about Premium Motors moving from downtown a couple miles away down South Tacoma Way and wanted to follow up. I had a chat with the owner yesterday and had a chance to snap some photos. He told me they're moving mostly for business reasons but also because of increased area crime, loitering, a distinct lack of the LeMay Museum, as well as the new proposed Sounder route cutting off A Street a block from their current location. That combined with a bit better deal on their new S. Tacoma Way place urged the move. He's sad to leave the great building their in especially after putting a lot of heart and soul into it.
They start moving their inventory this week and signs say to drop by their new place Oct. 16. Here's a last look at their space as it is now.

Photos ~ Loop 2.4.3 concert in Old Town
Who says Old Town's got nothing going on after 5pm on a Tuesday night? Well, at least on this particular evening, not me. After a sandwich dinner at The Spar, Sarah and I headed up to the Slavonian Hall in Old Town Tacoma to hear percussion ensemble Loop 2.4.3 play. They were brought here as a part of Classical Tuesdays in Old Town. Most of the concert were original pieces composed by the group ranging from Latin, native American, contemporary, and other styles. One piece that was truly amazing had all three group members sitting at a table using nothing but their hands in swooping, flicking, and tapping motions. Incredible stuff and I definitely recommend having a listen on their website and/or signing up as a friend over at their MySpace page.
Thanks to the folks at Spew for the post about this one and to the Tacoma Arts Commission and other local businesses for supporting this wonderful series. Two more concerts this year:
Nov. 14, 2006 - "Flute and Strings" with UPS Strings Faculty
Dec. 12, 2006 - Elizabeth Brown, PLU Faculty Lute and Guitar
Although an auditory event, it never hurts to see the music happening. Thus, I give you the following photos. Enjoy!
