Steam Vent ~ Views
Seems to be a bit of chatter about Tacoma growing up (literally) and concerns about folks' current and future views. "Steam Vent" is a new feature I'm trying here where I'll introduce an issue and let folks comment away. For the edition of the Steam Vent, let's talk views. Here's one that ought to get the conversation going: Continental Grain's new cargo ship umbrella!

There's also concern over some some proposed tall condos along the Thea Foss and then there's things like solid brick walls. I'm also not a big fan of above ground power lines. Even if I could afford it, I'd never buy a house like this or this with views cross-crossed by wires. Sink 'em underground, I say, and that way they won't get hit by cars or knocked down by trees!
See? It's that easy. Just let out some steam and vent. Enjoy!

Late Link hours for Third Thursday
Looks like Tacoma's Link is finally getting wise to some of downtown's blossoming night scene. Saw the following rider alert at the Union Station stop that's really encouraging for Third Thursday Artwalk attendance.

I'm not sure how long they've been running the Link late (sure wasn't last time I enjoyed a Third Thursday) like this but, hey, if it's news to me then it may be to someone else, too! It's an encouraging endorsement of Tacoma's 24-7 potential to see SoundTransit try this out. Anytime I've attended an evening event downtown I've wished the Link would run. So, get out, enjoy some art around town, and park in the plentiful Tacoma Dome Station lot.
While you're at it, why not drop SoundTransit a line to thank them and tell them you'd like to see more of this in the future.
