Need electricity to write

Yeah, the other day we had some downtime with our server and I didn't think much of it. Once we got home, however, we found that one of the electrical circuits in our house was out. Didn't think much of it at first so I flipped the breaker a couple times with no effect. My buddy Steve even came over to help me troubleshoot the possibility that the breaker for this area of the house was bad. No such luck.

Well, having done what I felt comfortable with I setup a temporary spot for our server, wi-fi router, and my computer on the desk in our kitchen and I made an appointment for an electrician to come out. Once here this morning, they filled me in on the general troubleshooting costs and quickly found the problem. Right inside the breaker box was a wire that came loose after a light tug. They couldn't find the other end of it inside the wall so had to cut a whole to get to it. I didn't really have a problem with this because it was through some wood paneling we want to get rid of anyway and it would provide access to a key portion of this house's electrical in the future.

Turns out there was an old splice leading to the circuit in question that gave out after the old twist and solder method was heated and cooled probably one too many times. They put in another splice with a cap and electrical tape and we were good to go. Thanks to the folks at A+ Services for a job well done. The guys that came by were professional and real with me on price and how much worse it could've been. Although kinda' spendy the work they did, although I could've done it, was worth while. When it comes to our home and my knowledge of keeping it together, I'll do my best to do what I can but will never have a problem deferring to the professionals when necessary.

Now to move this darn computer back upstairs...
