Food news you can chew
Plenty of places to eat, too few hours in the day (or bills in the wallet) to try them all. Great thing is, with a couple of these new spots opening this month we'll be able to visit them after all the kinks are worked out. For now, here's some of the latest.
The Matador
It's open and the blogger reviews are in (see here, here, and here). Sounds like a fun place in what's growing to be a fun part of downtown.
Masa
Don't know much about this place first-hand but have seen it start looking better over the past month. Seems that they're shooting for a Nov. 24 opening. They'll be using their spot for traditional Mexican food and will be open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays and will have breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings. (via Forward Tacoma)
Stadium Bistro
We peeked our heads in a couple months ago but progress has been slow. Seems like work's still being done to get everything ready but a couple drives by show they may still have a long way to go.
Dad's Bakery and Deli
Sounds like this place that I've recently enjoyed a couple times is now closed up with a "for lease" sign on the space. Although the sandwiches were tasty, I hadn't heard good things about the donuts and the space itself seemed a bit awkward for the type of business. What do you think should now occupy their space on Sixth Ave? So long Dad's. Fare thee well! (via GritCity)

Matador
Perhaps the hippest place in Tacoma although reasonably priced. Check out the custom iron work.

24 hours? Is Tacoma really becoming a 24 hour town now?

That's too bad about Dad's. I was thinking of stopping by there last night for a sandwich. Perhaps the fact that I thought about it, but didn't, is part of the reason they're gone. Note to self - support small business instead of Taco Time.

Great! I am always keen to try new places and try new foods and cuisines. Sometimes the quality of food is very good after the opening of a restaurant, but with the passage of time, the quality starts declining. It is a worrisome thing and the owners of the food place must take some precautions not to let this happen.
