Holiday Tree lighting tonight [update]
Looks like it may be brisk but the weather is suppose to clear just in time for tonight's 60th annual holiday tree lighting! Join in the spirit of the season at 5pm to listen to the Army Band play in the Pantages lobby followed by the tree lighting at 6pm. I'll be parking at the T-dome and hopping the Link over to the event. This will be the first time I've been to the Tacoma tree lighting so I'm definitely excited. See you there!
Update (photos below)
We really enjoyed getting out tonight to celebrate the holidays. The Pantages lobby made for a great assembly, mingling, and entertainment area. Kids had an especially good time considering Santa was on-hand for some lap sitting and wish receiving. The Tacky Shirt singers sang some carols followed by a brass ensemble from Ft. Lewis. Reminded me of when I played in brass ensemble in high school -- this time of year was always the most fun for that kind of music.
After the entertainment everyone went outside where the weather was dry and down right balmy compared to the last few days. With a countdown from ten the tree was lit. Thanks to Sarah and Reena for coming out with me and Happy Holidays to all!
Miss out on the fun? Light the tree yourself by mousing over the pic below. Enjoy!

Great pictures! Would you send me one or two with Santa that I can print for him. He would like them for his album.

It was so heartwarming to see the new lobby come to life this holiday season with so many people having fun inside and outside their own theater.
Watching and enjoying the music by the soldiers from the Fort Lewis brass ensemble and listening to their commander's comments, made me realize just how blessed we are to be here in Tacoma celebrating the holidays with our own friends and families.
What great community spirit!
Your photos are terrific.

The tree lighting ceremony showed just how important the new Pantages Lounge is as it provided a nice warm place for people to wait before the tree was lit up.
I also liked how the windows in the Pantages gave a great view to downtown Tacoma. The dynamic will be improved further when the Winthrop Hotel is restored.
